Hideout | Horror Manga

+ So, basically...

Open on a man, alone in a dirty cell. He is broken and bound to a wooden chair. A set of strained eyes gawk at him through a rough-hewn plank door as the man begs for his life.

Cut to the beach, a husband and wife are enjoying drinks in the sun. The husband expresses a wish to "start over" with this vacation as it seems their relationship is a tad rocky. His wife is unimpressed when he mentions the "happiness waterfall" that will surely fix their broken marriage.

Driving in the rain, they seem lost. She chastises him, and we learn that he is a "failed" writer, and she blames him for the death of their son. The husband stops the car abruptly and proclaims that they have run out of fuel and must trek to a nearby house for help.

Things take a dark turn, when the husband makes sure to take a large wrench with them as they set off into the rain...

+ What I think...

The art and story are grim, a quick spiral into darkness and desperation, with intense moments and disturbing imagery. It's short, only one volume, and rides like a slasher movie, and with scenes of graphic violence and abuse, it's not for kids.

Worth it.

An outlet for personal weirdnesses, maybe.

We'll see how this goes.

For now, I just need a single post to help make design decisions. So that is the purpose of this post! I'll ramble a little longer for length.

Here, have a random scary picture I found on /r/creepy.

They can see you. What! Don't you like my gift?

I see.
